I WOULD NOT MISS IT for anything in the world.

How could I? My sister’s holding her first solo exhibition, and as her brother numero uno, I just had to be there. So I groveled, begged and sold my soul so I could present myself at the opening. Less than three hours off the plane from Indonesia via Singapore, I later found myself in an industrial estate in Taman Bukit Maluri Kepong with my spouse and Boy #2 in tow – surprising all my siblings already there.

Most of all I wanted to surprise her.

I can’t help but be a proud brother, beaming like an idiot, taking pictures and making idle talk with some of the “A listers”.

Please visit the gallery, and if you can, blog about it. Any publicity is good publicity. And if any of the painting strikes your fancy, hmm . . . I just might –might, exert my brotherly pull for a discount?

For directions and more information please visit the gallery’s website.

Thank you Thomas, for giving my sister a chance.

For a lawyer, I didn’t know you had it in you..   🙂

  1. So you made it after all! Must have been such a pleasant surprise for your sister. Congrats to Pacha!

Thanks laa Pi, just made it in time. Which reminded me of your brothers, they were pretty good. A least Berok Art (affectionate name for our Art teacher) thought so.. 🙂 M-S.

  2. If I were you I would have been damn proud too. So your sister paints? Well art surely runs in the family because you write well.

Chegu: I don’t know whether it runs in the family or not, but if got any ‘spillover’ of any sort, talent in writing, music or drawing whatsoever – I’ll take all I can, he he.. Er, I thing the clear-cut case is your own family, Chegu. Music DNA certainly is transferable I think- MS

  3. Congratz Pacha! First solo exhibition! A BIG WOW!
I’m no art connoisseur in anyway you try to look at me, but I think I see something strong about the paintings…..is it the force of the Jedi? 😀
Be proud bro! Like cikgunazir said it right, art runs in your clan.
    Another BIG WOW!

Eh Akmal, banyak nye BIG WOW…:) I dunno whether dark force whatnot, but you’re right. There’s something powerful there and it evokes strong emotions in the viewer… That’s why good art can be timeless. Hopefully her works will turn out this way.. thanks bro’.. -MS

  4. Your choices and priorities – You have gotten them right. Or at the very least, with this one too … Family – this should never be compromised for “other things”. No, not preaching here – just telling and reminding MYSELF especially. And I should know a lot about this matter concerning “family”- just count the scars…

You’ve paid your price, dude and now it’s payback time.. It’s gonna be tough, but you’re gonna make it because you’re already countin’ the scars, and that means you’re ready to rock n roll 🙂 -MS

  6. hey, congrats to pacha!

i know nuts about art but i believe we can learn to appreciate it more when you’re there at such exhibition. its always interesting to see what people have in mind, and to express it via papers, or in this case, canvases.

Hmm.. besides shah and me, now you – that makes us three: people who know nuts about art. Bro’, soft porn in Penthouse or Playboy to considered art ke? Thanks, Pacha reads all this and is overwhelmed by the good wishes. Arigatogozaimahshta! -ms 🙂

  7. Hello!

Didn’t play Cliff Richard’s ‘Congratulations & Celebrations!’, ar?

I love going to galleries and looking at paintings, statues, sculptures, artifacts etc…I doubt Gallery owners like me though because I love to run my hand over the work. How can you be so near something so exquisite and not touch it?!?!

Congrats to Kak Pacha, by the way!

  10. Michaelangelo said we draw not with our hands but our mind. I see the artist saying many things; doing what a writer does with words. Having a solo is a great achievement by any standard. Congratulations to both artist and supportive brother.
