Bike for Birthday Boy

Scott Jr. Mountain Bike…  for kids!

It’s been a while since I visited my own blog. Let alone update it.  Sometimes I wonder why I even bother? But bother I must…

Anyway, it will my boy’s birthday, the middle one, who turns eight tomorrow. Yesterday he come home and put a wide smile on everybody’s faces – he got 3rd in his term exams. How about that?

He knows his dad and his bigger 15 year-old brother are bicycle freaks so it was a collective decision with my older boy about getting him a “proper” bike.  I didn’t even know they make suspension forks and shifters with front and rear derailleurs for small framed kids bicycles . Until we visited Boon Foo’s Bike Pro shop in Taman Mayang, Petaling Jaya, that is.

So I got him a Scott Scale JR 20.

In this picture the bike looks deceptively big.  It’s actually a serious mountain bike with proper front suspension and Shimano 6 speed cassette and two chain rings in front.

A full-fledged 12 speeder.

What a beautiful saddle!

Don’t you think it’s a beauty?

OK, let’s have some pics of the birthday boy and proud owner shall we?

He truly deserves it and I do hope one day he’ll take the sport up in a big way.

Thank You, Pa...

I WOULD NOT MISS IT for anything in the world.

How could I? My sister’s holding her first solo exhibition, and as her brother numero uno, I just had to be there. So I groveled, begged and sold my soul so I could present myself at the opening. Less than three hours off the plane from Indonesia via Singapore, I later found myself in an industrial estate in Taman Bukit Maluri Kepong with my spouse and Boy #2 in tow – surprising all my siblings already there.

Most of all I wanted to surprise her.

I can’t help but be a proud brother, beaming like an idiot, taking pictures and making idle talk with some of the “A listers”.

Please visit the gallery, and if you can, blog about it. Any publicity is good publicity. And if any of the painting strikes your fancy, hmm . . . I just might –might, exert my brotherly pull for a discount?

For directions and more information please visit the gallery’s website.
